What appeared to be a simple nasty cough, turned into Mark’s diagnosis of lung cancer. The news had been quite shocking as until the diagnosis, Mark, a lifelong non-smoker, appeared to be healthy.
While Mark was navigating the seventy-six days that followed his diagnosis, he journaled and took notes about his daily medical interactions, doctor and hospital appointments, and medications. The result of his writing; the creation of this insightful book that also includes twenty-six other powerful stories of post diagnoses and recoveries. This book can help the patient in addition to helping family members and caregivers of the ill. The aim is to help provide relatable stories to navigate through the illness and oftentimes, create a stronger faith while doing so.
After Mark and Mary Kay Liston met nearly 20 years ago, their faiths got stronger as they got more involved in their church homes, even during several moves for their employments. Mark was a regular contributor to a glass trade newsletter and authored a personal weekly motivational blog for years. Mary Kay spent her first career in television, and 10 years in franchising. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Business Administration. Mary Kay has served as Mark's editor for his writing projects.
They are now retired franchise executives, both having served as presidents of successful franchise brands under the “Neighborly” banner. The Listons are snowbirds, living close to all three of their children and 12 grandchildren, plus one great grandchild. They love to travel and create family trips to maximize time with their family.
